In 1988, Tom Cruise starred in the movie, "Cocktail". It changed the way the world viewed bartenders. Flair bartending became the rage and bottle flipping was suddenly the cool way to tend bar. Before that we had 007 ordering his Vodka Martini, shaken, not stirred… hmmm… well here's something that Hollywood neglects to tell us. |
BLOODY MARY

Put four ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and add vodka and tomato juice. Add Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and celery salt. Shake well and strain into a highball glass. Serve decorated with a stick of celery. Finish with a light dusting of white pepper.
Cover a sugar cube in Angostura bitters and place into a flute. Add brandy and top with Champagne.
Place four ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and add gin and dry vermouth. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an olive on a cocktail stick.
Place three ice cubes in a tall glass. Splash in a liberal measure of gin and top up the glass with tonic water. Drop in a slice of lemon, twisted to release some of the juice. Stir gently before serving.
1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
Place a scoop of crushed ice in a blender or shaker and add tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Blend or shake well. Dip the rim of a cocktail glass in lemon juice and frost with salt. Add two ice cubes and gently pour the Margarita mixture over them, taking care not to disturb the salt frosting.
15 ml Bacardi, 15 ml Malibu, 15 ml Coconut Cream, 30 ml Cream, 60 ml Pineapple Juice.
Place four ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and add gin, cherry brandy and lemon juice. Shake well and strain into a highball glass. Top up with soda water and garnish with a slice of lemon and a cherry on a cocktail stick.
Place four or five ice cubes in a cocktail shaker, add vodka and vermouth and shake well. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and decorate it with a twist of lemon rind.
